Clarification of card in-play
The sequence of the Cast action is the following:
1- Choose a card from your hand
2- Trigger Pre-Cast abilities on that card (if any).
3- Pay the costs of the card.
4- Place the card in your play area (now the card is in-play).
5- Trigger Instant abilities on that card.
Can the same die trigger the ability of a newly cast Entity?
Yes. You may trigger abilities on cards that entered play during the current turn, even if they were cast as a result of a previous ability.
When gaining or paying Void Etherstones via an ability, can I choose the color for each one?
Yes. You must choose a specific color only when gaining a Void die. In all other instances, Void Etherstones act as wildcards and are treated as any color.
If an ability allows me to cast a card, do I still have to pay its cost?
Yes. Unless the ability explicitly states ‘without paying its cost’, all standard costs must be paid to cast the card.
Does an ability like Ancient Mother’s (LE003) grant +X Strength to the card itself or to the overall Attack?
Unless otherwise stated, abilities refer to the card itself. In this case, Ancient Mother increases her own Strength by the number of Followers you have in-play when she joins an attack.
Can I take the Rest action if I have no exhausted Followers in-play?
No. You cannot perform a Rest action unless you have at least one exhausted Follower to ready.
Is the reward on Threat cards mandatory?
No, unless otherwise stated, rewards from Threat cards are optional. When you defeat a Threat, you may choose to claim the reward or decline it.
If I become corrupted by the Purple die but gain 1 Life in the same turn, do I remain corrupted?
Yes. Once you are corrupted, you must immediately place your life dial on your Leader card to mark this state. While corrupted, your Life total is ‘locked’: you cannot gain or lose Life points from any source. Your next action must be the Void Pact.
Artifax Expansion: While corrupted, you are also prohibited from using Artifax tokens that modify your Life as a free action.
How do discounts affect abilities that refer to a card’s cost?
Discounts only reduce the amount of Etherstones you must pay to cast a card; they do not change the card’s actual cost. Any ability that refers to a card’s cost always uses the original value printed on the card, regardless of any discounts applied.
Abilities within the same text box must be resolved in the order they are printed.
For example, the dice-draft ability of the card Acid Stream (LI004) instructs you to first make Opponents lose 1 Life Point and then to gain 1 Victory Point if any of them is at 3 or fewer Life Points.
A Leader may become corrupted at any moment, not just when joining an attack and suffering damage.
Defeat is not an Attack action.
You attack a Threat using only this ability. You cannot use the Leader, Followers or other abilities.
Whenever you lose Victory Points, remove them from the game.
Dice do not loop. A 6 cannot become a 1 and vice versa.
Leaders are not cards in-play, as stated in the rules.
