“We turn the Cube, and it twists us.” – Erno Rubik

We’re thrilled to share an exciting announcement: the five finalists of the Twist Contest are here!

The challenge was to design a unique and fun game that fits inside a soda can. Nearly 50 creative designs were submitted, and over the past few months, our team has been carefully reviewing and analyzing each prototype.

On February 28th, the Thundergryph Team will reveal its chosen winner. This winner will earn royalties for a limited print run of 1,000 copies and additional prizes outlined in our official announcement.

Now, it’s your turn to help us decide the Gamer’s Choice! Cast your vote for your favorite design by February 25th. The winner will receive a €200 gift card and the opportunity to have their game published.

THE FINALISTS

Alphabees by Rosaria Battiato and Massimo Borzì

A fast-paced word game where players take on the role of bees in a flower-filled field. Roll special dice to scatter letters like pollen and race to form words. Watch out for the bees on the dice, when they appear, the game transforms into a hive race! Combines quick observation, reflexes, and clever wordplay!

Can Can by Andrea Nani e Marco Facchini

A memory and interaction game where players stage an orchestra and can-can dance show. Teams recall sequences of face-down cards representing musical instruments and dance moves. The twist? A physical can that players must use, as the dancer or the instruments to replicate the sequence. A game that is easy to learn and packed with high energy!

Humpty Dumpty by Stefano Negro

A cooperative yet sometimes competitive party game inspired by the classic word game Categories. Players work as a team in real-time to complete the deck before the sand timers run out. Draw cards to reveal letters and categories, then shout out answers like “Pizza” for “Food with P”! But beware, spotting repeated letters or uncovering a Humpty Dumpty card adds twists that can make or break the game. Fast, hectic, and surprising!

Looptracers by Fernando Marecos

Compete on a dynamic, rotating cylindrical track where the soda can itself becomes the game board. One player takes on the role of the Trackmaster, spinning the can, while others draw their traces on its surface. The goal is to navigate the track without crashing while strategically placing your trace to disrupt opponents. A unique mix of creativity, strategy, and spatial awareness!

One cab for 2 by Amir Salamati

A team-based deduction party game where players are mobsters who accidentally share cabs with opponents. Discover teammates, deduce their destinations, and mislead opponents with your statements. An original twist of a deduction game that is fun and lighthearted!
